Mystery Ranch Metcalf 50 Review

Mystery Ranch has came out with a new Metcalf 50 for 2024 and the first thing I can say is wow how light this pack is especially for a frame pack! The pack weighs in at 5 pounds but honestly feels like a feather when you lift it up or have it on your back. There is plenty of room for all of your gear in you pack for either a day trip or an overnight trip and still have plenty of room to pack out your harvests. This pack comes in 4 different colors Buckskin, Foliage, Optifade Subalpine, and Ponderosa.

The Metcalf 50 comes with a roll down lid so can fit in your biggest of items from spotting scopes to your jacket as the day warms up and you will not have to worry about those pesky zippers getting in your way. But if you want easy access to the bag there are side zippers that allow you to access your gear quickly. This comes with a detachable lid as well so if you want you can easily have a grab bag for if you need such as laying out your field dressing kit or want to have a toiletry kit left back at camp. The Metcalf 50 also has room for a hydration bladder. The hip Belt as well with the Metcalf 50 is redesigned and is softer then previous hip belts mystery ranch has put out such as when I reviewed the pop up 38.

If you are looking for a new hunting pack for this year for your day trips in or a quick overnight camp. The Mystery Ranch Metcalf 50 will be everything you need plus some. This versatile pack will make hiking in to the back country not only more comfortable on your body but the pack outs easier as well. The bulkiness and hard foam that you find in most hunting packs are not present on the new Metcalf 50. This pack just seems to have everything you will need on a successful hunt.
